MTH (Match / Tactical / Hunting)

The Match / Tactical / Hunting projectiles are a range of copper high ballistic coefficient projectiles that can be used for either target shooting or hunting. Their meplats have a fine hollow point to assist with expansion on game.

These include both Standard and Max configuations. Standard projectiles are designed for magazine feeding, while projectiles with the Max designation are designed with the SealTite band as far forward as possible in order to drop into a magazine while still allowing sufficient Driving Band length to properly engage the rifling before the SealTite band enters the lands.

These projectiles typically have the highest beginning Ballistic Coefficient of all projectiles by using a Secant Ogive / Boat Tail combination. They are typically harder to ‘put to sleep’ or stabilise, than LD Tangent Ogive projectiles but the ballistic coefficient is higher at least in the beginning of flight. The faster you shoot these projectiles the better they perform as they will ‘go to sleep’ quicker. Out to 600 metres the drop in BC is negligible.

These projectiles are designed with the SealTite band as far forward as possible in order to drop into a magazine while still allowing sufficient Driving Band length to properly engage the rifling before the SealTite band enters the lands. As with most VLD projectiles and most boat tail projectiles, they perform best at longer distances and loads should be developed at a minimum of 200 meters or beyond. As with all CEB projectiles, the SealTite band must be seated against the case mouth and the SealTite Band should not be left sticking out further than its width beyond the case mouth to prevent contact with the lead in the chamber.

Note: Because these projectiles are solid copper, they are considerably longer than lead core projectiles of the same weight. As such, they will likely require a faster twist than the same weight lead core projectile. Please check the Technical Data Sheet to ensure that the projectiles you are interested in are compatible with your rifle's barrel twist rate.
